ISA Wenhua Liwan International Middle School adopt a student-centered approach to cultivate students in both academics and learning capabilities.
With the framework of three major curriculum and eight subject groups as the entry point, students are guided to deeply learn and explore academic knowledge, emphasizing the interconnectivity and progression across different disciplines. This approach helps students to broadly explore various fields of knowledge, laying the foundation for more in-depth academic exploration in high school.
In terms of learning ability, starting from students' learning interests, we foster and reinforce the correct learning methods. By connecting the learning process with real life, we help students explore and discover the cause-and-effect relationship between learning and life, clarifying the purpose and significance of learning, thereby stimulating students' internal motivation for independent inquiry and learning. Whether it involves academic knowledge or the development of learning skills, a high-quality team of teachers will do their utmost to guide and assist students in their learning journey.
Notably, in June 2024, ISA Wenhua Liwan School of Guangzhou received the prestigious authorisation from the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) to officially become members of the Middle Years Programme (MYP).
Built upon the solid and comprehensive foundation of IB MYP, ISA Liwan develops an integrated curriculum framework, taking into account the needs of adolescent students’ wellbeing and the importance of individuals to build cultural identity. The structure aims to help students to form a system to organise their knowledge, which sets a solid foundation for high school study.
The academic curriculum at both ISA Liwan International Middle School and ISA Liwan Wenhua International Middle School is based on the Chinese national curriculum standards. The IB MYP educational framework and teaching methods are utilised in order to provide students with a well-rounded education. The strengths of the Chinese national curriculum, the Cambridge curriculum and the Singapore curriculum are integrated to develop a comprehensive knowledge system and excellent overall abilities in students. Students are required to engage in four dimensions: active accumulation, positive inquiry, comprehensive practice, and timely reflection, to foster their personal development.
The schools' cultural curriculum is based on Chinese culture, with a particular focus on Lingnan culture. It encompasses a range of subjects, including Visual Arts, Martial Arts, Music, and more. These courses facilitate students' understanding and appreciation of their culture, enhancing their cultural confidence and ethnic identity.
The curriculum system is designed to align with the characteristics of students in puberty, helping them develop a fundamental understanding of the relationship between individuals and society through values, reality, and learning strategies.
